Mission Statement
Lighthouse Foundation exists to bring holistic transformation to the under-served youth of Khayelitsha township through the pillars of Education, Youth Cafe gatherings and Entrepreneurship. We aim to see young people happy and fulfilled in life, work, and family, as well as to see them make a positive contribution to society.
Our Values
We believe in order for us to see total transformation in our communities, we need have leaders who are passionate about empowering and equipping young people so that they can walk in their full potential. Leaders who do not seek self enrichments but rather leaders who want to see individuals and communities transformed holistically; Leaders that prioritizes the needs and wants of the people.
We live in a society where if you misbehave, you get bad mouthed and slandered upon. We believe we must encourage individuals and celebrate achievements to bring inspiration to the community.
In order for us to see a healthy and thriving communities, we need to be intentional about empowering mother and fathers, as they are who the students spend the most time with outside of school.
We believe in showing young people how things are done and how to live with good character so that they can feel empowered and they will in turn do the same to others.
We believe in being transparent and providing truthful, timely, and relevant information about our organization and the work that we do.
We believe the most essential and crucial part of what we are doing is focusing on the the student themself. And so we are committed on providing our services from a place of relationship. We prioritize the needs of the individual more that the processes, structures and systems.
About us
Lighthouse Foundation was founded in 2018 and is comprised of a diverse group of staff and volunteers, we are a faith based, non-profit organization situated in the beautiful township of Khayelitsha, in Cape Town, South Africa. With a focus on Youth Development, we seek to impact young people, children, and families.
As we became more acquainted with this community, we soon discovered a number of gaps that were hindering this community from flourishing. Namely, high unemployment rates, high school drop out rates, and a lack of after-school programs that could help stimulate the growth of young people instead of having young people loiter in the streets without any purpose.
